How to Do a Successful Candida Cleanse Using Natural Antifungal Supplements & Probiotics – Based on 20 Years Experience
By Deborah Barns (CanXida)
There’s a lot of information online on different gut health websites about which candida cleanse works the best & how to do one.
Most of this information is put together by people who’ve never seen a candida patient (unlike our team who actually have).
A lot of these websites say things like "you cannot eat any fruit, bread, beans, pasta or potatoes - period!" during a candida cleanse.
Or "you have to eliminate all dairy except kefir, drink lots of apple cider vinegar, & only eat alkaline foods."
And this just isn’t true.
Remember, a lot of the information out there is written by people who've never treated a single candida case in their whole life. Yet they’re telling you what will or won’t work for you.
The truth is, you can eat fruit. You can eat bread. You can eat beans. You can eat pasta if it’s made of certain grains. You can eat potatoes if you cook them a certain way. You don't need to drink apple cider vinegar. Alkaline foods aren't that important. And kefir actually needs to be avoided when you've got candida.
Keep reading and we'll dispel every myth other there concerning what works & doesn't work for candida.
We'll also explain the candida cleanse we developed based on over 20 years of research & thousands of before & after stool tests (to learn more about us & what we do, see the bottom of this page).

If you take a look at the 2000+ free videos on our YouTube channel (which you can learn more about later), you'll see we've been at this for a LONG time.
This cleanse is the end result of thousands of hours spent in the clinic working with patients, researching countless books, online resources, speaking with many experts, & old fashioned trial & error.
It wasn't made up out of thin air by some blogger like other candida cleanses you'll find online.
That’s why we believe the cleanse you’re about to learn can be effective. It has shown positive results for many people, regardless of how long they’ve struggled with candida or the treatments they’ve tried before.
It's simple to understand, easy to follow and has no side-effects.
And it doesn't involve any, restrictive a diets or expensive doctors visits.
This is a "heavy-duty" cleanse diet. We developed specifically for patients with chronic & severe candida infections. Meaning – patients who've been struggling for YEARS & had every other treatment method & drug they tried fail them (or had had yeast infection came back).
That doesn't mean you should leave this page if your candida symptoms are only moderate or mild.
It is a gentle yet effective cleanse. And as you'll find out, it's likely the most effective one out there (BY FAR).
This page is NOT about what foods to eat and avoid during a candida cleanse. And it's not about how to use apple cider vinegar or what washes help get rid of itchiness. You've already seen that information elsewhere.
It's about what methods are most effective at removing the yeast from the digestive system so it can't replicate there and then spread to cause symptoms in other parts of your body.
We'll cover herbal remedies, antifungals, probiotics, how to pick out supplements & much more.
Before we talk about what candida cleanse works best (based on our +20 years of experience), let's talk about what cleansing methods DON'T work for most people.
And these are...
- Simply changing your diet (removing sugar & eating more anti-candida foods like garlic, etc).
- Taking an "azole" drug or something similar.
"Now wait a second, almost every candida website & blog focuses on diet & what to foods to eat & avoid."
We used to focus on diet too in our early days. We sent patients to health food stores and told them to buy things like organic garlic and spinach and don't worry about anything else.
But we stopped. Because we learned. . .
Why Candida Cleanses that Focus Mainly on Diet & What Foods to Eat & Avoid Usually Fail to Get Long Term Results
A question we often get is, "I want to cleanse candida through diet alone & without taking anything extra. Is this possible?"
And the answer to that is yes. You can cleanse candida with diet alone.
But it’s hard. REALLY HARD.
And we can tell you right now – it DOESN’T HAPPEN in the vast majority of cases.
Especially if you've got moderate to severe candida or have been sick for a long time. Diet alone works if you've got a minor case of candida, but for everything else, forget about it – you won't cleanse it with diet alone.
Same goes for supplements alone (a topic we'll get to shortly). You can't get rid of a chronic yeast infection by just swallowing an anti-candida pill or probiotic.
You need to do multiple things if you want long lasting recovery.
Listen: You may be able to lower your amount of candida using just diet alone but to truly clean up the gut you need high doses of “powerful agents” over and above the diet. Things like allicin from aged garlic extract, eugenol (which comes from black walnut hull extract), grapefruit seed extract, oregano oil and more.
You’d have to go on a hardcore diet to adequate doses of all these from food. So hardcore you’d irritate your digestive system so much you’d throw your beneficial bacteria off balance and start to get problems.
We didn't always have this approach.
We told patients with candida to go to health food stores. We told them to buy candida cleansing foods like organic garlic, ginger and coconut. We told people to focus on eating whole foods & not rely on supplements.
And it didn't work.
People just got overwhelmed with the amount of stuff they had to eat.
Diet is important. That's why we have over 500 videos related to diet on our CanXida YouTube channel.
But trying to cleanse candida through diet alone doesn’t work for most people. We’ve seen people eat the most amazing anti-candida diets. Stuff like ten cloves of garlic plus big chunks of ginger and tablespoons of turmeric powder each day. Yet when they did a candida stool test they still had problems.
Same goes for supplements alone. Trust us, it won't work. You can't just take a pill and say bye-bye candida.
And this is especially true for drugs.
Should You Use Anti-Candida Drugs During Your Cleanse?
There are two main types of drugs that practitioners often give for candida. These are:
1. The "Nys" or "Nyst" Drugs
These are drug-based antifungals that start with the letters "ny" or "nys" or "nystat." There's 3 main ones which you've likely heard of before. These were promoted back in the 1980's as being one of the widely used pharmaceutical antifungals because they're not absorbed by the GI tract & don't harm beneficial bacteria.
They work by interfering with the integrity of yeast cell membranes (causing them to break down).
And they do work. But these drugs cause very bad Herxheimer reactions (aka Candida die-off) that can range from mild to severe.
If you ask around, you'll find the majority of people who took these drugs got very ill indeed. . . So ill they couldn't function normally.
As you've likely heard elsewhere, when Candida dies, its toxic cell fragments are released into the bloodstream and cause havoc on the immune system. That's why you want to cleanse it SLOWLY over time – you want to MINIMIZE how many toxic Candida fragments are in your bloodstream at once.
And that's what the cleanse on this page will do.
2. The "Azole" Drugs
These are drugs that end with the letters "azole" or "izone" and there are many of them. Chances are you've already been on one of these drugs in the past. Some of the most potent ones are often used intravenously (via injection).
These drugs work by inhibiting an enzyme necessary for fungal membrane function (without this enzyme Candida can no longer grow and starts to die).
And this sounds nice. But honestly, in our experience, these may not be effective for everyone.
We're not the only ones who think this. Many doctors we've talked to have admitted the same thing. You can watch our YouTube video above if you want to hear more information about that.
Nearly every patient our team has seen with recurring candida infections had been on one of these "azoles." They may reduce symptoms for a bit, but in almost all cases the candida will just comes back after a short time.
We've just seen so many people get nowhere with these drugs. One patient in particular took them every day for 10 years. And they still had candida!
There are some more potent "azole" drugs that work better. But you have to take those intravenously and they come with nasty side effects. Including sudden loss of kidney function, difficulty breathing, abnormal liver function, rash, diarrhea, lung spasms, intestinal bleeding, and many others in some cases.
Another problem with "nyst" & "azole" drugs is candida may develop a RESISTANCE over time. Which would require you to take higher and higher doses for longer periods of time.
Plus they do NOTHING to prevent candida from coming back several weeks or months later.
All drugs do is kill things. They don't build up the environment so the yeast can't get in there again once you stop taking the drugs.
As you've likely read elsewhere, candida is an opportunistic pathogen – meaning it's NOT a problem when kept in check by friendly bacteria but will become a problem when those bacteria are no longer present.
In other words – you cannot solve this problem by only focusing on how to "kill candida."
Candida cleansing isn't only about killing yeast. It's about building your gut health up so that your body overcomes the infection and keeps it from coming back.
You want to transform your gut environment from a place where yeast can THRIVE unchallenged – into a place that's HOSTILE to them and instead encouraging to friendly bacteria.
That's why your cleanse MUST include a stage where you recolonize your gut with friendly bacteria (aka a probiotic). Not doing this CRUCIAL step is the #1 reason many people get recurring infections and end up suffering for years.
You also need to avoid antibiotics if you want to successfully cleanse candida,
Why? Because antibiotics are the primary cause of candida overgrowth.
Nearly every woman with recurring vaginal yeast infections has had a history of antibiotic use BEFORE she got sick. The problem with antibiotics (as you’ve probably read elsewhere) is their aim is to indiscriminately wipe out everything in your gut, including the beneficial bacteria.
That's why they're called antibiotics. Anti-biotic means anti-life.
What most people (including many general practitioners) don't understand is beneficial bacteria are what PREVENT candida from taking over in the first place.
Good bacteria, primarily lactobacillus and bifida, are your gut’s IMMUNE SYSTEM. They’re like a defense force or a police unit. They keep yeast in check and prevent them from gaining a foothold.
Is Natural Medicine Effective at Cleansing Candida or Are Natural Products Not Strong Enough?
If you're on this page, chances are you're looking for a natural way to get rid of yeast.
Many people ask, "Are natural remedies really effective for candida?" or "why should I take a natural product for yeast issues vs a pharmaceutical drug?"
From our experience, not only do natural products work, they're the most effective way to cleanse candida from your body.
Don't worry about natural antifungals vs probitoics. We'll get to those in a minute.
There's several reasons why we ONLY recommend natural products for candida yeast infections.
The key reason is because natural medicine doesn't harm your beneficial bacteria. They let you take out the yeast without harming the "good guys" or causing damage to your internal environment.
It's the difference between using a sniper rifle and a nuclear bomb.
A nuclear bomb is something like an antibiotic.
Another benefit of natural medicine is resistance doesn't occur with natural ingredients.
That happens with drugs. This has been confirmed many times with studies done on things like grapefruit seed extract, caprylic acid, undecenoic acid, clove, and other natural anti-fungals. Resistance just doesn’t happen.
It happens with pharmaceutical drugs because they are synthetic. They’re only made up of one thing. They’ve got one ultra refined chemical compound with a very narrow band of action.
Once yeast develops a resistance to this action, the pharmaceutical drug is done.
Remember, candida is very adaptive. If you only hit it with one action it will soon work out how to fool this action. And you know what happens next. The drug no longer works and the problem comes back. And then you go back to the doctor who puts you on a new drug and the cycle repeats again.
Natural medicines are different. They doesn’t just contain one thing. They’ve got many different natural chemicals and compounds in there that make it up. They attack yeast from many different angles so it gets overwhelmed & can’t fight back.
And as you'll soon see, the natural stuff is no less effective at getting rid of yeast then the synthetic stuff.
Natural Antifungals vs Probiotic Supplements – Which Should You Take During a Candida Cleanse?
The answer is BOTH.
Many people believe that if you take a probiotic and an antifungal together, the probiotic is going to be canceled out by the antifungal product. This is not true.
In fact they work better together, not against each other. Particularly if you take an antifungal that contains only natural ingredients. Such as aged garlic extract and oregano oil. Because as we learned previously, natural antifungals don't harm beneficial bacteria. They only harm yeast.
You don't even need to take antifungals and probiotics apart. You can swallow both at the same time.
That way as the antifungal travels through your digestive system clearing away yeast cells, the probiotic is right there & REPLACES them with the exact beneficial bacteria that keeps the yeast from coming back.
Remember, candida cleansing isn't only able killing yeast. Think about what had to happen for you to get candida. The good bacteria had to go, either due to antibiotics, eating the wrong foods, stress, alcohol, etc.
Yeast can't multiply much in an environment with high levels of good bacteria like lactobacillus.
Think about it. If you only take antifungals and ignore probiotics, what's there to stop candida from just coming back when you stop taking that antifungal? (Nothing)
Can you take probiotics only and ignore antifungals?
You can but you'll slow down your recovery. The whole point of taking supplements for candida is to speed up your recovery. So there's really no reason to only choose one. Sure you'll save a bit of money but is it really worth if it means having to deal with candida symptoms for an extra 2 to 6 months? I don't think so.
Antifungals and probiotics work synergistically.
And you’ll get far better results if you take both.
The 12 Most Effective Natural Ingredients For Cleansing Yeast From Your Body
The following is a list of the 12 natural herbs, plant extracts & oils we're found to be most beneficial for patients with chronic or severe candida yeast infections. We recommend you take as many of these as possible for the duration of your candida cleanse (you'll understand why in a few minutes).
You don't have to take 12 supplements. You can just take 1 or 2 that has most or all of these:
- grapefruit seed extract
- berberine concentrate
- clove
- aged garlic extract
- caprylic acid
- undecylenic acid
- betaine hydrochloride
- black walnut hull extract
- pau d arco
- neem
- biotin
- oregano oil
You'll notice tea tree oil is NOT on this list. And that is because while tea tree oil should only be used topically on the body. It can cause a bad reaction if swallowed. For internal use, oregano oil is best.
You may also notice that a few of these seem to have nothing to with candida at all. Black walnut hull for example is a well known anti-parasite herb. So why is it on this list?
Because what our team have discovered over the years and after looking at thousands of comprehensive digestive stool analysis test results is most people with candida have multiple issues that need clearing up.
Some people who think they have candida in fact don't have candida at all.
So what do these people have? Imbalances across the board. They have poor levels of good bacteria.
Many have high levels of bad bacteria. Others have microscopic parasite infections like blastocystis.
Because once you've got low levels of good bacteria and high levels of yeast and bad bacteria, it's not hard for other "bad guys" to get in there.
The only way to test this for sure is to get a comprehensive digestive stool analysis, or CDSA test, which is very expensive and most insurance companies don't cover it. It costs something like $600 to 700 to get this test done depending on where you live.
We've got videos on our youtube channel where we hold the paper with these stool test lab results up to the camera so we're not making this up.
Most people with a severe gut issue are going to have multiple problem that need clearing up.
And this list of natural medicine is going to tackle ALL (or almost all) of them. That includes all common species of candida plus over 150 other yeasts, over 800 species of bad bacteria including the nasty ones such as e.coli and staph, plus a broad range of parasite invaders like blastocystis and others.
We used 2 criteria to select these 12 ingredients (which later became the CanXida protocol).
The first is potency. As in how strong was the effect of taking this ingredient? And which natural substances out there are most effective against yeast, bad bacteria and parasites without hurting beneficial bacteria?
The second criteria is band of action. Did it have a narrow band of action, meaning it only targeted candida, or was it also effective against other yeast species, bad bacteria and parasites?
A word of caution before we get into the details of how each ingredient works and what it does: Just because an herb is effective, it doesn't mean you can single it out and just take that one herb in large amounts.
It's not a good thing to do.
You want to have balanced actions in the body. Not have a massive action in one narrow direction.
1. Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE)
This is an extremely powerful antimicrobial. All citrus seeds actually have candida cleansing properties and grapefruit seed is the most effective by far.
GSE was first discovered in 1972 by a man named Dr. Jacob Harich. He had been looking for the world's strongest substance for sterilizing and cleansing.
And thought he had found it in grapefruit seed. The first to take notice was the food industry because Harich found that GSE could inhibit & kill mold on food.
Then hospitals found out about it and they started using it as antiseptic to clean wounds. They found it could reduce the risk of infection during surgery. It was even used in Olympic sized swimming pools because it got rid of bad bacteria like e. coli.
Then in 1980 the American Research Institute tested it. And they discovered G.S.E. was so powerful it could knock out over 800 kinds of bad bacteria and over 100 strains of fungi.
Of course that's when the chemical industry got involved and convinced people to stop using natural ingredients and switch over to their synthetic stuff.
We still recommend grapefruit seed extract in patients over the synthetic stuff.
Why? Because it works.
One study published in 1990 by the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine found G.S.E. to be more effective at stopping bad bacteria and yeast than 30 different types of antibiotics and 16 different types of chemical anti-fungals.
GSE is extremely bitter so make sure to choose a supplement that contains it in tablet form. As many patients find the liquid version hard to swallow because of the taste.
2. Berberine concentrate
Berberine is a natural antibiotic with a broad band of action. It not only weakens candida but also bad bacteria like staph, e. coli and parasites.
A June 2016 study from the University of Ceara, in Brazil showed that berberine has the ability to stop the growth of various candida species. Including candida that's already become resistant to antifungal drugs.
Berberine is found naturally in many plants such as barberry. It's been used in natural medicine for many years to treat everything from diarrhea to psoriasis and more.
This is a powerful extract with antifungal, antibacterial and anti-parasite properties. It targets everything except for the good bacteria in your gut. Which is why you should include it in your cleansing protocol.
3. Clove
This is another ingredient with a wide band of action, meaning it's effective against yeasts, bad bacteria and parasites.
Clove contains an essential oil called eugenol.
According to a 2009 study from the University of Porto in Portugal, eugonol can rupture and destroy yeast cells upon contact. They also found it almost entirely prevents candida from producing hyphae.
Hyphae are tiny branching tubes or tendrils candida and other yeast use to penetrate the gut wall and spread to other parts of the body. It's also one of the main reasons people with candida tend to have leaky gut.
The candida will literally punch through the gut wall leaving tiny microscopic holes in it. These holes heal over time but make the gut permeable until then. That's why it's called leaky gut.
The eugenol in clove actually stops these hyphae from ever developing. It works like this on all forms on candida. Even ones that have already become resistant to antifungal medications like the "azoles".
One study done in India in 1999 also studied the effect of clove and compared it to various anti-fungal drugs as well as garlic. Their results show that garlic wipes out yeast and bad bacteria like candida, salmonella and staph within 1 hour while clove took 4 to 5 hours to have the same effect.
Clove is just as powerful as garlic. It just takes a few more hours to work.
4. Aged garlic extract
Garlic contains two powerful anti-candida oils. These are allicin and allanin.
Studies show that when these oils come in contact with candida, its cell membrane, which is the outer edge of the cell, gets weakened. This allows your immune system to attack it and get rid of candida.
This has been proven by various studies including a major one conducted in 2006 which showed allicin to be as effective at wiping out 55 different species of yeast, including over 30 strains of candida, as some of the most popular anti-fungals prescribed for yeast infections such as the "azole" and "nyst" ones.
Yeast hates garlic because it can't develop a resistance to it.
Aged garlic extract is well tolerated even by people who are sensitive to raw garlic. So there's no reason to avoid it. It won't make you smell like garlic or give you garlic breath, don't worry. This is a very important ingredient to have in an anti-candida formula.
If you're doing a candida cleanse right now without aged garlic, you're probably wasting your time. It's that powerful.
5. Caprylic acid
Caprylic acid is a monounsaturated fatty acid found primarily in coconut.
It's considered one of the healthy fats. Coconut actually contains 3 of these acids.
All of these are what's known as medium chain fatty acids, or MCT's. If you've heard of MCT oil or seen MCT fats on a supplement label before, that's what caprylic acid is.
MCT oils are sometimes used in protein powders or weight loss formulas because they are absorbed by the body quickly and can give you quick energy.
The other MCT oils found in coconut are capric acid and lauric acid.
All 3 of these have antifungal properties. The reason we single out caprylic acid is because it's the most potent of the bunch.
Caprylic acid has a wide band of action. It's effective against yeast and bad bacteria. It's not as effective against parasites but we've included plenty of other ingredients for that.
Organic fats like caprylic acid have been used since at least 2,800 B.C., meaning 4,800 years ago for their anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties. That's why soap was traditionally made from fats and why we still use them today to clean things.
But it was only in 1961 that scientists in Japan discovered these MCT fats had other uses besides cleaning or washing our hands. That is, you can take them orally to get rid of yeast and bad bacteria in the gut.
It does this by weakening the cell membrane.
That way your immune system detects the candida and has a much easier time getting rid of it.
Caprylic acid is extremely well tolerated and doesn't cause side effects or reactions in even the most yeast sensitive patients. So there's no reason not to take it. And as with the other ingredients on this list, yeast
can't develop a resistance to it.
Caprylic acid works best when paired with something called Undecylenic acid.
6. Undecylenic acid
This is a fatty acid distilled from castor bean oil. It's produced by cracking castor bean under high pressure. Meaning you can't get it by consuming castor beans or castor bean oil.
Undecylenic acid is naturally found in small amounts in human sweat, so it's not foreign to the human body.
It's one of the reasons fungus doesn't normally grow in areas of the body that are often moist like under the armpits.
Undecylenic acid is highly effective for getting rid of candida. Even more so than caprylic acid.
It's been used as an anti-fungal for a long, long time. Even the food industry started using it back in 1949
to inhibit yeasts and fungi.
It's a very foul smelling liquid in its pure form and can irritate the skin and digestive tract if taken in isolation.
That's why powdered salts of the acid have traditionally been used as these tend to be very well tolerated by the majority of people and have no side effects.
These salts also have up to 4 times the antifungal activity so there's no reason to seek out the liquid itself. (In other words, seek out a supplement that has undecylenic acid powder in tablet form instead of a liquid).
One study conducted in 1945 tested salts of undecylenic acid on 150 patients with skin fungal infections and found it to be highly effective against a wide range of fungi including Candida itself.
So the first major study that proved the anti-fungal nature of undecylenic acid was itself done on candida.
Another study by the American scientists Reck and Rosenfeld found salts made by undecyenic acid may have 30 times more anti-fungal activity than even caprylic acid.
Salts made of undecylenic acid have been used topically to treat athlete's foot and toenail fungal infections
since at least World War II. They were the very first substance shown to get rid of the fungus without causing irritation or side effects.
Salt powder made of undecylenic acid was also tested in a double blind clinical trial in 1980 by a scientist named Dr. Chretian from the U.S.A. He found that 88% of foot fungus infection patients treated with undecylenic acid had zero fungus within 4 weeks compared to only 17% in the control group.
Undecylenic acid works by inhibiting the growth of candida in the small bowel and large intestine. It does this by attacking the surface of the cell, causing it to become deformed and crumpled.
This can actually be observed using an electron microscope.
These deformed yeast cells can no longer grow and mature into their hyphal form which we talked about earlier. It also makes it easier for your immune system to get rid of the yeast.
7. Betaine hydrochloride
Betaine is a natural supplement recommended to people who have pH issues in their stomach.
It's found naturally in several foods including quinoa. Betaine makes your stomach more acidic if the pH is too alkaline. It also helps with heartburn. It's a common assumption that heartburn is caused by over acidity or too much acid when in fact all the studies say the opposite.
Heartburn is the result of your body releasing too much stomach acid because the acid is too weak and too alkaline to digest your food properly. This re-accidification of the stomach, as it's called, from betaine is well documented and has been proven to work in a variety of studies.
One study from the University of California in 2013 showed that drinking betaine HCL mixed with water lowered the pH of stomach acid down to healthy levels within just 6 minutes (a lower pH means an acid become stronger).
This effect lasted for about 70 minutes and with no side effects from any of the patients. Betaine is an ingredient that works best when paired with caprylic acid and undecylenic acid.
These two acids amplify each other and you always end up targeting more Candida species when you take
them together vs take them apart. And betaine amplifies this effect even further.
Undecylenic acid works best in a slightly more acidic environment and this is where betaine comes in.
Many people with Candida have pH issues in their small intestine which would inhibit the effect of undecylenic
acid if betaine wasn't present. When slow released, betaine lowers the pH a little in the environments where caprylic acid and undecylenic acid work together.
Betaine also ensures undecylenic acid works exactly where it needs to, which is the duodenum and ileum, the two parts of the small intestine most affected by candida.
8. Black walnut hull extract
Black walnut contains what are called tannins. One of these tannins is called juglone. Tannins are dark bitter compounds found in nature. They're also found in green tea and red wine and have many health promoting properties.
Juglone is a tannin with a wide band of action. It's effective against yeast, bad bacteria and parasites.
Black walnut has been used for centuries in Europe. The whole tree secretes these tannins. The fruit, the tree and the leaves all have it and they stain your clothes black if you get any of it on you.
People actually used to boil black walnut and use the water to soak bed sheets in to get rid of bed bugs, mites and fungus. It was also used topically on the skin to get rid of ringworms which is a fungal infection.
According to a 1999 University of Mississippi study, black walnut hull is just as, if not more effective, at wiping out worms, parasites and yeasts than commercially available chemicals such as selenium sulfide and even certain "azole" drugs.
There's several different types of walnut hull extract including green walnut and black walnut.
Black walnut is the more powerful one. Black walnut can irritate some people with poor kidney function
or people who eat too much protein like red meat every day.
So you may want to be careful with the dosage if you ever get it in liquid form. Our CanXida Remove formula contains a very small dosage of black walnut hull extract for this very reason.
It's not as powerful as grapefruit seed extract but when combined with GSE and the other ingredients in this list, creates a super powerful formula that works time and time again.
Only the hull or shell is used in the extract so it's safe to take even if you have a nut allergy.
9. Pau d arco
This is a bark from a tree that grows in South America. People in South American have been using pau d arco for hundreds if not thousands of years to treat everything from bowel problems, hemorrhoids, constipation, respiratory illness, coughs, fungal infections, arthritis, skin problems and even certain cancers such as of the tongue and mouth.
We consider pau d arco to be one of the missing ingredients in most people's candida eradication regimens.
Any anti-candida formula that doesn't have authentic pau d arco should be considered incomplete.
This is based on research conducted in the 1970's which discovered several dozen different active ingredients that inhibit candida and other fungi.
Another study conducted in 2007 by German scientists at the University of Paderborn discovered that pau d arco could destroy the respiratory mechanism that candida and other fungi use to breath.
It suffocates candida so it withers away and dies.
And that's not all. Another study conducted in 2008 and published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that pau d arco blocks and inhibits candida's ability to produce its tissue destroying oils in your intestine.
It stops candida from wrecking your gut wall and helps your body recover faster. It disrupts all sorts of life cycles candida has.
Be careful if buying pau d arco supplements because it's often counterfeited due to its high cost.
10. Neem
This is an Indian herb rarely used in yeast infection formulas. It checks all the boxes with its broad spectrum anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-parasite actions.
Neem has been used for thousands of years in India as an anti-parasite and anti-bacterial. The twigs are used as a toothbrush and the bark, leaves and roots are used as a natural insecticide both for plants and for the skin to stop bugs from biting.
It was first discovered to be exceptionally effective against 14 different kinds of yeasts including candida in 1987 by a scientist named Dr. Wassilew.
Another study published in the Brazilian Journal of Microbiology in 2011 showed neem extract, even at low doses, has a very strong anti-fungal effect on a wide range of candida and other yeast species.
Neem is totally safe and non toxic to humans or pets. It's often used as a natural flea control for cats
and dogs. And against lice.
11. Biotin
Biotin is a type of B vitamin. Some people call it Vitamin B7. Others call it Vitamin H. It's really a co-enzyme like a lot of other B vitamins.
It's a critical vitamin required for certain types of proteins to function properly. It's naturally found in brown rice, egg yolks, liver, kidneys and in organic soybeans.
It's also produced by beneficial bacteria inside the gut of healthy people. So obviously folks with gut problems tend to be deficient in it.
Another reason we've added biotin is because like the other ingredients we've mentioned, biotin stops candida from maturing into its invasive mycelial form where it starts to grow hyphae.
So candida gets trapped in the early stage of its life cycle which is much easier to get rid of and doesn't cause as many symptoms. This was discovered in 1974 by a Japanese doctor named Dr. Yamaguchi. He found that when candida was grown in a petri dish, it quickly changed into its hyphae form.
But as soon as he added biotin this maturation would stop and candida couldn't proceed further.
12. Oregano oil
This is in our opinion one of the top 3 most powerful anti-candida herbs you can take.
The other 2 are grapefruit seed extract and aged garlic extract. Oregano was used in the Mediterranean region for thousands of years alongside herbs like thyme, basil and rosemary.
People back then weren't just using these herbs to flavor dishes like we do today. They used them to preserve food. Remember, they didn't have refrigerators back then.
So how did they keep mold, bad bacteria and bugs from attacking the meat? You may be thinking, people used salt. And many did. But they also used herbs like oregano.
These herbs have powerful antimicrobial properties. Oregano in particular contains a family of chemicals called phenols. There are different types of phenols. One is called thymol, another is called carvacrol.
Carvacrol is extremely antimicrobial.
It has a very wide band of action. It targets everything you want to get rid of. Including yeast, bad bacteria and parasites. Even viruses tend to get hit by oregano oil which is quite amazing.
This has been proven many times in multiple studies.
One such study conducted in 2001 at the Georgetown University Medical Center found that when you inject
oregano oil into a culture of candida, it stops the growth of the yeast completely.
It's very interesting how science is now validating all this. Thousands of years ago people didn't know about carvacrol. But they knew that when you crushed oregano and rubbed it on meat, you could store it longer and people wouldn't get sick when they ate it.
An Important Note Before We Continue:
You may have noticed a lot of these ingredients work the same way and do the same things. They attack the outer member of yeast cells and cause it to become crumpled and weak. This makes it easy for your immune system to take it out. These deformed yeast cells can also no longer mature and replicate.
So why the heck do we recommend 12 different ones. After all, can't you just take really high doses or aged garlic extract and GSE and be done with it?
The answer is simple. It has to do with tolerance and having balanced reactions within the body.
Things like garlic, clove and undecylenic acid are non-toxic, but you can bet you'll get a bad reaction if you do something crazy like swallow 20 cloves of garlic or 3 tablespoons of raw or dried cloves all at once.
Your body isn't going to like that and you'll probably get a stomach ache and feel sick.
There's only so much of each ingredient your body can handle in a short amount of time. When you take a massive dose of one ingredient, you get a big reaction in one direction.
When you take smaller doses of several different ingredients at once, you can get the same amount of anti-fungal activity but have a balanced reaction in the body.
Because while many of these ingredients have a similar effect on candida, they're achieving this result using
different compounds and active ingredients. So instead of taking a giant dose of garlic and irritating your gut, you can take a smaller dose of garlic plus a dose of grapefruit seed extract, caprylic acid and more.
That way you get the same level of antifungal activity without irritating anything or causing a bad reaction.
It lets you take multiple antifungals at once in doses that are effective but not overpowering.
And that gives you MUCH BETTER results vs trying to take a huge dose of one single ingredient.
How to Choose an Cleansing Supplement for Candida That Actually Works
When choosing a supplement, go with a compressed tablet vs a cellulose capsule product.
Don't buy those cheap cellulose capsules that have a blend of different herbal powers. They're not nearly as effective as tablets. A tablet will almost always have more antifungal activity because more natural ingredients can fit into it. As the capsule itself takes up a lot of space that can be used for herbs instead.
When you select a tablet, make sure that it’s sustained release. Sustained release means when you swallow this tablet, your digestive system doesn’t get access to everything immediately.
But over a period of several hours it slowly breaks down in the gut.
That way it targets all parts of your GI track. It cleanses all the yeast and bad bacteria right from your mouth and keeps working all the way through the colon and “back passage.”
Now, likely whatever supplements you were taking before were not sustained release.
They weren’t put together by someone with decades of experience treating your specific health problem. They were likely put together by a company that’s got a 1000 other products and they pay lip service to making an anti-bacterial formula.
Or they’ve just put out a product with one thing like oregano oil.
That's one of the reasons we made our own antifungal formula, CanXida Remove, which contains the 12 ingredients we listed in the previous section. We got disappointed with the stuff available in grocery stores.
Too many supplements these days are filled with fake ingredients.
This isn’t an opinion. It’s a fact. Back in 2015, the New York Attorney General Office conducted 390 tests on a wide range of supplements. They gathered bottles from the shelves of 4 major retail stores.
These were GNC, Target, Walmart and Walgreens. They then sent the bottles over to a lab and DNA tested every tablet to see if the ingredients matched the label. And guess what they found. . .
Only 21% of the products actually had the herbs advertised on the bottle.
79% didn’t contain ANY of the herbs and were just full of crap like rice powder and wheat!
Here’s a screenshot of an article from CBS News reporting on it:
And it gets worse. . .
One survey done by the FDA found 68% of the supplements tested didn’t even have the MAIN INGREDIENT advertised on the bottle. For example, one “St. John’s Wort” supplement contained nothing but “senna,” a laxative that can cause anal blistering.
Imagine taking something like that when you’ve already got a gut problem.
This is why we tell folks to avoid generic brand supplements from places like Amazon or iHerb.
The way you find good supplements is by asking “Where did this product come from? Where did the company get the raw materials? What kind of research has gone into this product?"
Was the product formulated by a person who’s an expert on it? Has it been tested and proven to work on your specific problem? Do they provide extensive education about dosage or the best way to use that product?
Does the product use standardized ingredients?
Standardized means that each time you take this supplement, you're getting a consistent therapeutic dose. It doesn't vary in potency from batch to batch as is often the case in non-standardized supplements. It's a bit like how pharmaceuticals are made.
You get the same strong therapeutic dose every time you take it.
Don't just go for the cheapest product. You’ll get cheap results.
If you want to test out a high quality natural antifungal supplement, check out our CanXida RMV formula.
This is a "heavy duty" formula designed to work even for extremely severe cases where the patient has been sick for YEARS & every other antifungal supplement and drug they tried in the past either failed them or the yeast infection came back.
CanXida is non-toxic, has no side effects & is safe even for children.
You won't find anything stronger. It meets all the criteria we mention above & more.
CanXida RMV is an advanced 12 ingredient anti-fungal, anti-bacterial & anti-parasitic formula based on two decades of experience. It’s the only formula that targets the BIG PICTURE of gut disturbances & is in our opinion the most premium gut cleaning supplement ever created.
It contains all 12 of the ingredients previously mentioned & contains standardized ingredients in a sustain release form.

Why Most People Get Nowhere With Probiotics & 5 Things to Look For When Choosing a Probiotic For Candida
Below are the 5 things you want to look for when choosing a probiotic for candida.
1. Is the Formula Centered Around Good Bacteria Strains Scientifically Proven to Inhibit Candida & Other Yeast Species?
If you’ve ever compared different probiotic formulas before you’ve no doubt noticed that there's lots of different bacteria strains out there and some products contain more strains than others.
Some products contain 50 strains. Others contain 20. Most of these are just there for marketing purposes to make you think you’re getting “lots of stuff.” They don't do anything at all to inhibit yeast & they do nothing against Candida.
The 6 strains that do inhibit Candida are:
- Lactobacillus acidophilus
- Lactobacillus casei
- Lactobacillus plantarum
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus
- Bifidobacterium bifidum
- Bifidobacterium longum
The first one on the list is Lactobacillus acidophilus.
You've probably heard of it as it's the most researched probiotic strain out there. What most people don't understand is L. acidophilus is Candida's #1 natural enemy (as well as that of most other yeast species).
It's the #1 competitor of Candida in both the gut & vaginal environment. Countless studies show that Candida & other yeast species can't reproduce in areas with high levels of L. acidophilus.
There's lots of reasons for this.
L. acidophilus releases lactic acid which interferes with Candida's metabolic process. It causes Candida to have a stress response where it goes into a starvation-like state and can't grow.
It's also naturally antifungal.
Lactic acid is the key reason the vagina has a low pH. This helps prevent a variety of conditions such as bacterial vaginosis, yeast & viral infections, sexually transmitted diseases and urinary tract infections.
Candida hates lactic acid and actually has mechanisms that prevent the acidification of its environment. But a probiotic with high levels of L. acidophilus will overload this.
Other antifungal agents created by the Lacobacillus species listed above include hydrogen peroxide (which also protects your gut from bad bacteria infections) & special molecules called bacteriocins & biosurfactants.
Bacteriocins are tiny protein-like molecules that slow the growth of bad bacteria and fungi.
While biosurfactants are molecules that interfere with Candida's ability to latch onto both the vaginal and gut wall. Studies show when high levels of Lactobacillus is released into an environment colonized by Candida, the good bacteria will literally unhook yeast from the epithedial cells that line the gut wall.
We can go on & talk about how these strains also stop hyphae (long tubes Candida uses to penetrate the gut wall and spread to other parts of the body) formation & causes yeast to stay in its less invasive form.
Or how they amplify the effect of antifungal medicine by increasing the permeability of the fungal membrane (a fancy way of saying it makes tiny holes in Candida's cell wall so antifungals can get in easily).
But we think you get the point.
You don't need to understand all of these scientific terms.
Just understand that Candida HATES these 6 strains. They compete with Candida for food, nutrients, colonization space, "poison" it by releasing molecules that prevent its growth, & will even "evict" the yeast from its "home" (the vaginal & gut wall) & send it packing.
They also have additional benefits such as in the case of Lactobacillus casei.
Casei is very important when you’ve got a gut problem. Why? Because it mops up immune debris & waste particles (toxins) created by yeast & bad bacteria that like to lodge themselves throughout your body.
It stops them from getting into your bloodstream, causing inflammation & making you feel sick.
This allows your immune system to focus more on the big issues (like cleaning up your gut from any bad bacteria & yeast).
It also helps with food allergies because it trains your immune system to relax and not be hyper-reactive.
These are the strains that are most responsible for fixing your gut environment. The list above includes the 4 best Lactobacillus and the 2 best Bifidobacterium.
To learn more about these 6 strains, check out the product page for our CanXida Restore (RST) formula which goes over the each of them in more detail. You can get to it by clicking here.
Don't worry about any other strains. They're nowhere near as important.
Also remember that only so many probiotics can fit into a capsule. So if a formula has 12 or 20 strains, it's going to have lower levels of the strains you actually want.
2. Avoid Formulas that Contain Prebiotics or FOS
Prebiotics (also known as FOS or fructooligosaccharides) are a special type of sugar naturally found in foods such as broccoli, coconut and bananas. These sugars are what feed probitoics (beneficial bacteria) and make them grow.
That’s why they’re called prebiotics. So why do we tell you to avoid any probiotic formula that contains them?
Because we've seen them cause too many bad reactions when taken in supplement form. Any time a customer tells us they tried a probotic formula in the past and it made them feel sick or bloated or gave them brain fog, we know right away that formula contained prebiotics.
Companies add these sugars in thinking they’re going to feed the beneficial bacteria.
Oh yeah, they feed the bacteria alright. . . They feed everything from the e. coli to the clostridia and all the other bad bacteria that cause bloating and brain fog & make you feel like crap.
Companies will tell you these sugars are from "natural sources" but in reality that “source” is a factory or lab.
We’ve had it with prebiotics. We’ve seen them cause too many aggravations in customers. Get rid of any supplements that have them. You’ll get much better results if you take a probiotic without prebiotics.
It’s fine to eat foods that naturally contain FOS like the ones we mentioned but don’t take supplements that contain them.
3. Does the Probiotic Formula Also Contain Enzymes?
Instead of prebiotics, get a formula that contains digestive enzymes.
Research in the past 7 years has shown that when you take enzymes and probiotics at the same time, you get an amplified effect.
There’s lots of reasons this happens. First, enzymes kick start the gut and improve the acid / alkaline ratio of the stomach and small intestine.
This creates a more favorable environment for the beneficial bacteria to grow. It also creates a hostile environment for the bad bacteria and yeast.
They annoy the bad guys and encourage the good guys & shift your bacteria population from bad to good.
Enzymes also help with the healing process. Many people with gut disorders have damaged or inflamed digestive systems caused by bad bacteria & yeast overgrowth. Enzymes help with this by allowing your gut to heal at a faster rate.
They can also help mop up any garbage that needs cleaning up.
It's like sweeping a floor that hasn’t been cleaned thoroughly for many years. You might notice that you pass out bowel plaques or mucous. You may have more frequent bowel motions or larger stools.
Enzymes are especially important in the first and second month of the gut healing process because they’re going to break down all the vegetable starches your good bacteria are going to feed on. This is how you feed the good bacteria without feeding the bad.
That's why you should look for things like amylase, hemicellulase, protease, invertase, and glucocoamylase on probiotics labels.
Because these target all the different kinds of carbohydrates, proteins and fats you’ll need help digesting if your gut isn't in great shape yet.
Not all enzyme formulas are compatible with probiotics.
So don’t just grab an enzyme supplement from Amazon or iHerb and combine it with whatever probiotics you’ve got laying around.
It takes a special skill that a clinician develops over time to understand how to combine these two successfully so you get an amplified effect like we described.
If you’re taking a probiotic formula right now and you’re not taking enzymes along with it, you’re missing the boat.
You really are. Enzymes make all the difference.
If you want the best possible product, make sure the probiotic + enzyme formula you choose contains an enzyme called serratiopeptidase.
This is a very powerful enzyme that will bind to circulating immune complexes in the blood. That means that once you take it, it will actually start to hunt down little bits of debris in your bloodstream created by bad bacteria and yeast as they die off.
This is particularly important for people suffering from Leaky Gut or auto-immune diseases because this debris is one of the main causes of things like rheumatoid arthritis and joint pain.
As well as brain fog, headaches, and many other symptoms. . .
4. Does the Probiotic Come In a Time-Released Capsule?
Another thing to check for is if the probiotics come in what’s called a time-released capsule.
These capsules are very expensive to manufacture so usually a company will tell you on the label if it’s time-released or not.
These aren’t the cheap cellulose capsules that break down in the stomach.
They survive the stomach and only open up in the small intestine.
That way nothing is lost due to stomach acid. Nearly all probiotics you buy don’t do that. They don’t fully survive the stomach bypass. They actually get destroyed before they get to the intestine.
A time-released capsule is different. It’s not affected by digestion.
5. Is the probiotic GMP Certified or Made in a GMP Certified Facility?
Be VERY vary of any probiotic that doesn’t have a “GMP Certified” seal on the label.
Particularly the cheap probiotics you see on store shelves.
Many years ago before GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) were enforced on the supplement industry, we spoke with many experts in America and Europe regarding probiotics and how they were made.
And we were quite amazed to discover that when a survey was done on U.S. probiotics just before GMP was enforced, many of them were found to be USELESS and DEAD.
The cheap probiotics had NO VIABLE BACTERIA in them at all — people were just getting ripped off and they had no idea! And we can tell you right now that chances are, especially if you’re buying some “el-cheapo” product at the supermarket or Walmart, you’re probably still getting scammed.
An easy way to tell is to see if the factory or supplier has a GMP certification.
Before you check out other probiotics take a look at our CanXida RST formula.
