5. Starchy Carbohydrates

Starchy carbohydrates include foods like pumpkin, squash, sweet potato, carrot and corn.

In many cases you can eat these in small amounts during your recovery from candida. It depends on the severity of your symptoms and how your gut responds when you eat these foods.

If your symptoms include a lot of farting and bloating you need to be careful with starchy carbohydrates. In such cases I usually tell the patient to avoid starchy vegetables completely for at least the first 6 weeks and focus more on green leafy vegetables. 

Note that the way you cook a starch also plays a role in how your body reacts to it.

I've seen many, many patients who've told me that when they bake a potato their gut reacts to it differently then when they boil it or steam.
